Which activities make you lose track of time?

Losing track of time is easy when you are in your jam or doing something you truly love. I just had this conversation with my son a few days ago. He felt like what he was doing was a waste of time. He had spent days dedicated to it. I then pointed out this activity was of his own free will so he must of actually enjoyed it or he would not of continued. He is a highly creative individual. Being creative and loving what you do is oftentimes work…hard work and as a creative you can keep going on and on into a rabbit hole. That is why I shared with him my own experience and reinforced the concept of goal setting. It is especially important for those who are always seeking a challenge in their creative endeavors. The goal sets the finish line or milestone. You can always add another goal from that finish point.

Specifically for me these days, writing songs makes me lose track of time. There are moments in the early morning when I just happen to glance at the time and realize I have spent 3 or 4 hours crafting a song and need to high tail it out of the house for my day job. This is especially true on a gorgeous morning where I am outside listening to the birds unknowingly serenade me. My dog is snuggled right next to me sleeping peacefully during these creative moments which really encourages me to just keep on composing.
