In a casual conversation my husband says “I know you love that synthesizer. I mean you sleep with it.” To that I chuckled and responded, “yes Synthia and I make beautiful music together.”

My quest for a small simple midi controller at the Guitar Center resulted with me go full out and splurging for this compact device which can not only act as a MIDI controller through my ProTools but also allows me to create audio quality sounds; some of which I can record then load into the synthesizer. For example birds outside, guitars, voice. pretty darn cool for us creative types that do not like limitations.

I will admit when it comes to sound design I am a bit lost or inexperienced. however, this actually makes learning the concept of sound design easier to achieve.

There are a plethora of settings and editing capabilities for generating sounds which hopefully I will grasp in the future. but let’s just say as a beginner in this area it was pretty easy to pick up and start using and being creative.

ProTools handles this beast like a charm. What I find ideal is setting it to the Piano plug-in for midi and generating the chords and notes for the different instrumental parts which then can be viewed as a score.

This is super helpful in having the sheet music in place for my original songs, which I hand over to my producer.
