Photography of musical instruments. I couldn’t resist. The shadows were just too tempting in my living room/music room tonight, and the designs they made caught my eye. The antique lamp had a similar shape to a music clef note, so I decided to include it. The abstract larger image is of a stand up bass and bow. Shadows have always been a fun thing to photograph and observe. The lower photo is of my trumpet and the stand up bass. I tried to arrange the items so that I could get the most repetitive patterns and shades. The light source was from the ceiling. The photography was left as is. Although, I was tempted to play around in Photoshop.
Wow, these are great photos. Mystical, beautiful and thoughtful. Very creative! 🙂
Thanks for visiting my blog, and for following it. 🙂
Happy New Year! 🙂
Thanks! That’s quite a complement, I love your shadow study. I’m glad I just discovered it.
Wonderfully observed, Jennifer. The suggestion of objects by the shadows they cast is very thought provoking.
Yes! This is what I love about them. Thanks 🙂
Very, very well seen. It takes a special eye to spot something like this.
I’ve always loved shadows and how they simplify.
Nice shadows, I like the composition and the use of the red background.
I tried to go b&w. Your’e right the red works.
Really interesting work, Jennifer. The shapes of instruments really lend themselves to some interesting photography I think.
Thanks Katie! I plan on doing more – but it is hard to get just right shadows.
Great shapes in the shadows. I love these.
Thanks!
