When Alka first reach out to me it was simply to meet and catch up over some really great Tai food. One thing led to another, as per usual for our conversations and we realized the stories that should be told from my own experiences that have encouraged me to step and make myself vulnerable doing what I truly love; writing songs. This podcast touches the heart of the storyline or message in my upcoming release ‘The Road Is Lonely’, due out November 1st, 2024. By embracing my own loss, I hope to comfort others through my lyrics and melody. But really the heart of this discussion is the important of having people that you can look up to and feel at ease with having difficult conversations. People that encourage you take those steps to do what you are passionate about doing and feeds your soul.
My perspective comes from being a mother, an entrepreneur, and now an empty nester (although they claim they never really ever leave the nest). Putting aside a fast-paced career to dedicate my energies to nurturing and supporting my two sons with no regrets. Instead of setting my dreams aside completely, I pivoted to include them into my game plan by starting a business where I could set my own schedule and goals. Now that they no longer need my care I am pivoting into a new and more vulnerable path. Not saying it’s easy. I literally sat for days before I pushed the ‘Submit’ button to release my first song.
There are so many women out there that have very similar stories, but maybe are hesitant and may never take those steps into a new vulnerable space. For those in this situation, I encourage you to find your close friend(s) who build you up and give you the light that makes you feel strong and confident inside.
